I most confess that "Sere, buen pan y café in the colloquial neighborhood of Manila" , has won my heart since the very moment I saw it. In order for me to write this review and make it as objective as possible I actually had to go in and try my very best to find things I didn’t like about it.

I even went across the road to the overly hyped and raved "Hija Mia Café" just to try and grab a comparison point. Unfortunately, and for the very second time I had to walk out of it without even ordering anything.

The place just doesn’t have any charm. Although, I did promise to go another time and give it a proper coffee tasting. But today and as a usual thing a was looking for a little piece of sweetness and quite frankly the place had nothing. A couple of old looking brownies and a chocolate volcano that had definitely seen better days.

So I strolled back to Sere, I had to go there anyway to buy our weekly supply of coffee for the office. So here is the low down, not only did they have their amazing house classic bean but they had another one for me to try out. This one was from Jerico. Extra points adding up. I ordered a cup to try it out and see if it was worth me taking a bag home.

I then thought aha, this is the moment they disappoint me. They have no cake. So jokingly I told the owner, who every time I’ve been there he's too. He replied to me with his charming voice, of course we do. Lemon Poppy Seed or Chocolate. Damn! I’ve had the Lemon Poppy Seed before and it is to die for.

So, honestly, the lowdown is that the service is somewhat slow and they tend to forget you exist. Not a bad thing if you just want to sit on your laptop and work away. Points again because all of the tables around the walls have outlets for you to charge your devices. They also take a bit of time bringing out your order.

They do serve a pretty good breakfast and the openness and feel good vibe of the place will surely keep you coming back. Overall great coffee, warm staff and a fab place to type away!
